Signs It’s Time To Call A Gutter Company

The gutters are a part of a home that doesn't always get the attention it deserves. After all, you have to purposely look up towards the roof to see them, and they typically just go on doing their job without much input from you. However, if your gutters start to suffer and you don't take notice, you will soon end up with problems like roof damage and puddles in your garden beds. If you'd rather avoid these issues, then you should keep your eyes out for these signs that it's time to call a gutter company.

Water is pouring out over the edges of your gutters.

The next time it rains, step outside for a minute and take a look at your gutters. Is water pouring out over the tops of the gutters rather than flowing down the downspouts? This is a sign that your gutters are clogged. A gutter company can easily come clean them out and get things moving again. The gutters may also be sloped improperly, which is causing water to flow away from the downspouts instead of towards them. A gutter company can realign the gutters and change their slope by changing how they are hung.

Water is dripping out the bottoms of the gutters.

While it is raining, you should also look at the bottoms of the gutters. If there are any holes where water is pouring out, then you should call the gutter company. These holes can typically be patched when they are small, but if you do not have them taken care of soon, they will grow larger, and you may then need to fully replace your gutters. Holes in the gutters can develop icicles in the winter, too, and while icicles look nice, they can cause damage and injuries when they fall.

The gutters are drooping.

This is an assessment you can make when it is not raining. Look up at the gutters, and see whether they seem to be drooping in the middle. This sometimes happens if they are not cleaned out for a long time or if too much ice is allowed to form inside of them. A drooping gutter will allow water to pool in the middle of it rather than drain away. Your gutter company may be able to straighten the gutter, or they may have to replace it.

If you notice any of the issues above, don't wait — call the gutter company. They'll come take a look and recommend a solution.
